What does ChatGPT source tracking record?

Is every detected domain an explicit citation?
Not necessarily. Depending on the provider response, a domain may come from a citation annotation or from a domain visibly present in the answer. The product calls these detected sources and avoids claiming causation.
What is a source change alert?
It is a comparison between consecutive stored checks for the same prompt that identifies a domain newly present or no longer present.
Can I track Perplexity sources?
Not in the public launch product. The integration is kept behind a server-side feature flag until the provider path is live-validated; the site does not advertise it as active.
